12 Jyotirlingas

Shiva's twelve shrines of light, across India

The twelve Jyotirlingas are the holiest shrines of Shiva, where he is said to have appeared as an endless column of light (jyoti). They are listed in the Dvadasha Jyotirlinga Stotram and spread from Kedarnath in the Himalayas to Rameswaram on the southern coast.

Many devotees aim to visit all twelve over a lifetime; reciting the Dvadasha Jyotirlinga Stotram is believed to carry the merit of visiting them.

The list below follows the order of the stotram; the map follows a practical west-to-south-to-north route.
