Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple, Yadagirigutta
Yadagirigutta, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district · Lord Lakshmi Narasimha (the man-lion form of Vishnu), self-manifested in a hill cave
An ancient cave shrine of Narasimha, rebuilt between 2016 and 2022 as a black-granite temple with a gold-plated vimana, about 60 km from Hyderabad.
Yadagirigutta is Telangana's most visited Vishnu temple. Its main deity is Lord Narasimha, who is believed to have appeared here on his own (swayambhu) inside a narrow cave on the hilltop. Between 2016 and 2022 the state rebuilt the whole hill shrine in black stone, following the Agama texts and borrowing from Kakatiya and Dravidian styles. The new temple opened with a Maha Kumbha Samprokshanam (consecration) on 28 March 2022. The town was renamed Yadadri in the 2010s and officially went back to its old name, Yadagirigutta, in November 2024. Both names are still in common use.
