Telangana Endowments Department

Government department · Boggulakunta, Abids, Hyderabad, Telangana

The Telangana Endowments Department took over supervision of Hindu religious and charitable institutions in the state after Telangana was carved out of Andhra Pradesh in 2014, continuing the 1987 Endowments Act. It runs or supervises the state's best-known shrines, including Bhadrachalam, Vemulawada, Basara, Kondagattu, Komuravelli and the Hyderabad Bonalu temples, through Executive Officers and trust boards. It also organises large festivals such as the Medaram Sammakka Saralamma jatara and Bonalu. Yadagirigutta, earlier under this department, now has its own statutory Yadagirigutta Devasthanam Board.

How it is run

Headed by the state Minister for Endowments and a Commissioner of Endowments, who exercises general superintendence over all charitable and Hindu religious institutions; major temples have government-appointed trust boards and Executive Officers. Since the 2025 amendment, Yadagirigutta has a separate TTD-style board.
