Thriprayar Sree Rama Temple

Triprayar (Valapad), Thrissur district, on the Theevra (Thriprayar) river · Lord Sri Rama (Triprayarappan), four-armed, with Sridevi and Bhudevi

Rama's riverside temple, first stop of the Nalambalam pilgrimage, where devotees feed the fish and burst crackers for Hanuman.

Thriprayar stands on the bank of the Theevra river, about 22 km south-west of Thrissur. Sri Rama here, called Triprayarappan or Triprayar Thevar, has four arms holding a conch, discus, bow and garland, like Vishnu. Thriprayar is the first temple of the Nalambalam pilgrimage to the four Ramayana brothers, made in the month of Karkidakam (July–August), and its deity presides over Arattupuzha Pooram. Fish feeding (meenoottu) in the river and 'vedi' cracker offerings are its best-known vazhipadu. Entry is for Hindus only.
