Jagatpita Brahma Temple, Pushkar
Pushkar, Ajmer district (about 15 km from Ajmer) · Lord Brahma, the creator, four-faced, with Gayatri and Saraswati
One of the very few temples to Brahma the creator, beside the sacred lake and its 52 ghats.
Pushkar is one of the oldest pilgrimage towns in India, and its Brahma temple is one of the very few in the world dedicated to Brahma, the creator god. The present building dates largely from the 14th century, with later repairs, on a site believed to be far older. It stands near Pushkar Lake, which is ringed by 52 bathing ghats. A bath in the lake, especially on Kartik Purnima, is believed to wash away sins. The same full-moon festival brings the famous Pushkar Camel Fair.
