Sri Ksheera Ramalingeswara Swamy Temple (Ksheerarama)

Palakollu, West Godavari district · Lord Shiva as Ksheera Ramalingeswara, with Goddess Parvati

The milk Pancharama – a milky-white linga under one of the tallest temple towers in Andhra Pradesh.

Ksheerarama in Palakollu takes its name from ksheera (milk): Shiva is said to have filled the temple tank with milk for the young sage Upamanyu, and the town's name (Pala-kollu, a pond of milk) comes from this. The linga is milky white and is believed to have been installed by Vishnu; Rama is said to have performed its first worship, hence Rama-lingeswara. The temple is famous for its nine-storey, roughly 120 ft gopuram.
