Guruvayur Sree Krishna Temple
Guruvayur, Thrissur district · Lord Krishna as Guruvayurappan – a four-armed Vishnu form (conch, discus, mace, lotus) worshipped as the child Krishna (Unnikrishnan)
Kerala's most-visited Krishna temple, famous for thulabharam, Krishnanattam and its temple elephants.
Guruvayur is the most important Krishna temple in Kerala and one of its busiest pilgrim centres, sometimes called Bhuloka Vaikuntham (Vishnu's heaven on earth). The four-armed idol is believed to have been worshipped by Krishna himself at Dwaraka. The temple is known for thulabharam (offering your weight in goods), the Krishnanattam dance-drama, thousands of weddings every year, its elephants at Punnathur Kotta and the Chembai music festival. Only Hindus may enter, and the dress code is strict.
