Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu
Gangeshwar Mahadev Temple, Fudam (Diu)
Fudam village, about 3 km from Diu town, Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu · Lord Shiva as Gangeshwar ('Lord of the Ganga'), in five lingas washed by the sea
Five Shiva lingas set in the rocks of the Arabian Sea shore, bathed by the waves twice a day, which tradition says the Pandavas made in exile.
Gangeshwar is a small cave-like shrine among the rocks on the seashore at Fudam, about 3 km from Diu town. Inside, past images of Ganesha, Vishnu and Lakshmi, five Shiva lingas of different sizes sit in a rocky hollow open to the sea; at high tide the water covers them, and at low tide they are revealed. A carved Sheshanaga (serpent) rises over the lingas. Tradition credits the Pandavas with making the lingas during their exile.
