Shri Durgiana Mandir (Shri Durgiana Tirath), Amritsar

Outside Hathi Gate, Goal Bagh, Amritsar · Shri Lakshmi-Narayan (main sanctum), with Ram Darbar and Radha-Krishna; named after Goddess Durga

Amritsar's great Hindu shrine: a gilded temple in the middle of a sacred tank, reached by a bridge, with silver doors and the Bada Hanuman temple of the langur fair.

Durgiana Tirath is Amritsar's principal Hindu temple complex. The main temple stands in the middle of a sarovar (sacred tank) 541 x 432 ft and 20 ft deep, approached by a bridge, and was rebuilt from 1921 in a style that echoes the nearby Golden Temple, with gilded domes and huge carved silver doors. Inside are standing images of Lakshmi-Narayan with Ram Darbar and Radha-Krishna. The complex includes the Bada Hanuman temple, famous for the 10-day Langur Mela in Navratri, and the old Sheetla Mata temple.
