Shri Yamunotri Mandir Samiti (Yamunotri Temple Committee)

The Yamunotri temple is not under BKTC. It is run by the temple committee of the Uniyal priest families of Kharsali village. The committee fixes the Akshaya Tritiya opening and Bhai Dooj closing, and leads the doli procession of Goddess Yamuna between Kharsali and Yamunotri. The doli of Shani Dev (Someshwar Maharaj) of Kharsali goes with it.

A committee of the hereditary Uniyal priests of Kharsali village, with office-bearers such as a secretary, treasurer and spokesperson.

Tips for pilgrims

• Register on the Uttarakhand Char Dham portal (registrationandtouristcare.uk.gov.in) before travelling.
• The temple is a trek of about 6 km from Janki Chatti; ponies and palkis are available.
• In winter the goddess is worshipped at Kharsali village.
