Shri Shiv Khori Shrine Board
Statutory board · Ransoo, Reasi district
Shiv Khori is a natural cave about 200 m long near Ransoo in Reasi district, with a self-formed Shiva lingam inside. The shrine board was set up in December 2003 and given a statutory basis by the 2008 Act. It built the roughly 3 km footpath from the Ransoo base camp, a guest house, reception centre, cave lighting and an exit tunnel. It is a separate body from the Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, though the two are in the same district and many pilgrims combine both visits.
How it is run
Chaired by the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, with the Deputy Commissioner of Reasi as Vice-Chairperson.
Tips for pilgrims
- Light vehicles go up to Ransoo (about 80 km from Katra); the last 3 km to the cave is on foot.
- The inner cave passage is narrow and low, so it may not suit people with claustrophobia or breathing problems.
