Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple Trust
Statutory board · Varanasi
The Uttar Pradesh government has managed the Kashi Vishwanath temple through a board of trustees since 1983. The Act gives the board power to fix fees for worship and services, which is the basis for paid Sugam Darshan; the Allahabad High Court upheld this. The Kashi Vishwanath Dham corridor, opened in December 2021, links the temple to the Ganga ghats. Over 40 old temples found during the work were restored, including Gangeshwar Mahadev, Manokameshwar Mahadev, Jauvinayak and Kumbha Mahadev.
How it is run
A Board of Trustees headed by a non-official Hindu president nominated by the state government, with an Executive Committee and a government-appointed Chief Executive Officer; the Act is administered by the UP Dharmarth Karya department.
