Shri Dwarkadhish Devasthan Samiti
Trust · Jagat Mandir, Dwarka, Devbhumi Dwarka district, Gujarat
The Samiti runs the Dwarkadhish (Jagat Mandir) temple at Dwarka. Nineteen shrines stand inside the Jagat Mandir precinct, and the nearby Sharada Peeth of the Shankaracharya administers 14 of them. The Archaeological Survey of India has protected the Jagat Mandir as a national monument since 1963. A separate government fund pays for renovation and pilgrim facilities such as a bhojanalaya and rest house.
How it is run
The Government of Gujarat is the sole trustee, through the General Administration Department. A government-appointed Samiti runs daily affairs. The District Collector of Devbhumi Dwarka is president and a Deputy Collector is administrator. Its members represent the public, the Shankaracharya, the priest families and the local body, usually for three-year terms.
Tips for pilgrims
